About Sassy Upcycling
Hello, I'm Sara, founder and designer of Sassy Upcycling, an eco-friendly jewellery business based in my home studio in Crediton, Devon.
I create unique handcrafted jewellery from preloved beads, vintage finds and unwanted jewellery, transforming forgotten treasures into beautiful new pieces to be worn and loved again. My collections include earrings, pendants, necklaces, bracelets, anklets and rings, with every piece being completely individual.
My passion for jewellery-making began with a love of colour, creativity and vintage treasures, but it has grown into something much more meaningful. I am passionate about sustainability and believe that beautiful things deserve a second chance. In a world where so much is thrown away, I love rescuing old jewellery and giving it a new purpose.
Every bead, clasp and finding has a history. Many of the materials I use are sourced from charity shops, car boot sales, flea markets and online second-hand marketplaces. I spend hours searching for unusual beads, vintage jewellery and forgotten pieces that catch my eye. What others may see as broken, outdated or unwanted, I see as an opportunity to create something new and exciting.
Back in my studio, each item is carefully dismantled into its individual components. Beads are cleaned, sorted by colour, shape and material, and stored ready for future designs. This process allows me to build a wonderful collection of unique materials that inspire my creativity.
The design process is one of my favourite parts of the job. I love experimenting with colours, textures and styles, combining vintage and contemporary elements to create jewellery that is distinctive, colourful and full of character. Because I work with reclaimed materials, no two pieces are ever exactly the same, making every item truly unique.
Sustainability sits at the heart of everything I do. By reusing and repurposing existing materials, I help reduce waste and keep unwanted jewellery out of landfill. My aim is to show that recycled and upcycled materials can be transformed into jewellery that is every bit as beautiful, stylish and desirable as something made from new components.
Alongside my jewellery collections, I also offer a bespoke upcycling and repair service. Many people have jewellery tucked away in a drawer because it is broken, no longer fits their style or holds sentimental value but never gets worn. I enjoy working with customers to redesign and rework these pieces, creating something fresh and personal while preserving the memories attached to them.
I also run jewellery-making workshops from my studio, where small groups can learn how to create their own jewellery using my extensive collection of colourful preloved beads. These workshops are relaxed, creative and a wonderful way to discover the joy of making something unique by hand.
Whether you're looking for a one-of-a-kind piece of sustainable jewellery, a repair for a treasured item, a bespoke redesign, or a creative workshop experience, I'd love to help.
Thank you for supporting a small local business and choosing jewellery with a story.
At Sassy Upcycling, every piece is thoughtfully reimagined, sustainably created and made to be treasured for years to come. ✨
